Historic Masonry Clad Steel Frame Buildings |
|
The industrial revolution and the use of iron and steel as building components brought about the birth of the skyscraper. Early buildings saw the use of iron, steel and composite frames, with masonry cladding. Eventually steel came to be the preferred framing material due to cost, the ease and locale of production, and weight.
Historic Masonry Clad Steel Frame Buildings are subjected to corrosion of the frame due to the construction methodology used during this period (1880s – 1940s).
Echem Consultants has been instrumental in developing NDE techniques and Electrochemical repair for corrosion related damages to these types of buildings.
